Q . What is the process of applying IEC Code for Proprietorship firm in India ?
IEC Code stand for “Importer Exporter Code”. IEC Code is unique 10 digit code issued by DGFT – Director General of Foreign Trade to Indian Companies.
IEC Code is the basic and mandatory requirement to import or export in India. No person or entity shall make any Import or Export without IEC Code Number. An application for grant of IEC number shall be made by the Registered/Head Office of the applicant. Only one IEC would be issued against a single PAN number. Any proprietor can have only one IEC number and in case there are more than one IECs allotted to a proprietor, the same may be surrendered to the Regional Office for cancellation.
IEC Code application can be filed through online or physically.

- Form ANF-2 Duly Filed & Signed
- BANK’S CERTIFICATE ON BANK LETTER HEAD
- Authorization letter
- Proof of Services tax Registration- ST-2/VAT
- Proof of Address -landline Tel. bill
- Proof of Address Electricity Bill
- Copy of Rent Agreement/NOC
- Self attested Copy of Pan card of Proprietor
- Self attested Copy of Address proof of Proprietor
- Four photographs of Proprietor as on Bankers Certificate.
- Draft in favour of additional DGFT
- Authorization Letter in the favour of Agent
- Cancelled Cheque
